Join us for a night you won’t forget to experience the passion of these 3 talented and upcoming singers from Manchester and Stockport performing live from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm on the 30th of March. We interviewed the featured artists TeeBen, Clemo and Charley Louise to learn about them personally and what drives them to produce their music.
Meet TeeBen – Afrobeats Singer From Manchester
I started by asking Teeben a variety of questions to find out more about him as a person and what drives him. After chatting to him, I found him to be a dedicated, hard-working, passionate musician who told me outside of music, “I love to study”, as demonstrated by having gained 3 degrees at university. When I asked him his favourite part of this line of work it was obvious it is the performance. He draws inspiration from many different people, but specifically Nigerian music artist 2face. From a younger age, he said, “I joined a choir, church choir”, and “I went to music school.”. In his soulful song ‘Far Away’, he found inspiration to write it about his experience moving away from his home country, saying it is “the story of my life”. We look forward to seeing him perform and hearing more from him in the future.
Meet Clemo – UK Rapper & Grime Artist
Next, I spoke to rapper Clemo. This modern British rap artist has an energetic and fast-paced style, this is demonstrated by what he believes to be his best piece, drill song ‘Who are you?’ His musical career started at the age of 20 when he began posting music on YouTube and Spotify, taking inspiration from artists such as Bugzy Malone as can be picked up on by similarities such as style and pace. When asked about hobbies and interests, he expressed that “there’s no outside of music, music is kinda just life”, displaying his passion for his music career. Alongside music, he also enjoys drawing cartoon-like drawings and graffiti, saying, “When I was younger I wanted to be a tattoo artist.”
Meet Charley Louise – Storyteller and artist from Stockport
Finally, I spoke to Charley Louise, a determined and dedicated music artist who was inspired to start producing music from growing up in care, which motivated her to write her favourite song ‘Back Home’ which is about leaving care and coming home, writing all her songs from real-life experience as “so many people related to this song”. The song itself was written 2 years ago, which sparked the beginning of her music career which was later encouraged by her biggest inspiration, her music mentor Ben who “showed me we’re capable of anything an to never give up”. Outside of music, Charley likes “anything outdoors an active”, enjoying playing football, going to the gym and walking her dog. Charley’s story and talent inspired us and her performance definitely will too, we can’t wait to watch how her music will motivate and inspire many others.
